All affiliate marketers are anxious to get the holiday season underway. That’s because with so many people shopping and buying many items, there is a huge chance to increase commissions and earn a substantial amount of revenue. This is always true, and now it seems that in the holiday season for 2009 that affiliate marketers have been enjoying more success than ever before.

It all started with Black Friday, when all of the huge sales start showing up and consumers immediately think about the gifts they need to buy. Some surveys and statistics show that online Black Friday shopping in 2009 was up 11% from the year before. Even before the true holiday shopping spree started online (with Cyber Monday the next week), it was the second highest day of online shopping for the entire year.

This signals many different things for affiliate marketers looking to capitalize on strong holiday shopping trends. For one thing, it means that consumers are increasing how much they have been shopping in general compared to last year. The economy is slowly recovering, although it is still a bumpy road and it is still far from operating at full force.

Another important thing to note though is that online shopping is continuing to grow at a quick level, making online specials for Black Friday and Cyber Monday more powerful than they ever have been previously. An overall shopping survey revealed that 59% of consumers planned to spend the same amount of money this holiday season, while 30% planned to spend less than previously and 11% planned to spend more. That means more people planned to spend less than spend more, but as noted above, online shopping is up!

That means that online shopping is accounting for a higher percentage of people’s purchasing, even over the holidays. Consumers will go to where the best deals are, and there have been some great deals available online this year. Additionally, more consumers simply feel comfortable and secure with online shopping, safe in the knowledge that they aren’t being scammed or aren’t at risk for anything.

If you’re an affiliate marketer, you have to keep note of this and be ready to attack the holiday season next year, and the remainder of this year, with full force. You should heavily promote the savings and deals that are available, and you should take every step necessary in order to increase your share of the increasing holiday online shopping revenue pie.

Remember that all affiliate marketers can stand to benefit from this growing trend. Find great programs that consumers will find valuable products at. Promote major holiday deals as much as you can, and you should be able to enjoy a nice holiday boost.
