Bringing people to your websites and blogs has become a lot more time consuming than first time websites were first introduced over 10 years ago. The good news is that while driving traffic to your site may take some time, but once it’s done it is well worth the effort.

  1. Build a solid site providing important information such as an About Us page, How to Contact page, and any additional information needed.  Even with a blog this is appropriate as it shows a level of professionalism and seriousness about the content you’re providing on your blog.
  2. Continuously be consistent with your brand such as your company logo, motto, the same colors of your brand all over your website so that it will become familiar to the visitors of your site.
  3. Generate policies for your company that will build a sense of trust, code of ethics, policies for your newsletters, motto, customer service and more.
  4. Name the pages on your website using keywords that are related to your website or blog.  These keywords will help to bring in more continuous traffic to your site.
  5. Add on a “bookmark this site, recommend this site or favorites” badge to your site so that visitors will be able share your site with others.  The “recommend this site” badge will allow for visitors to email others your page’s link to another person.
  6. Include a blog on your website or a section with an update providing information about upcoming news. Adding in a “What’s New Page” or even setting up a sitemap for your visitors to browse through and select from.
  7. Submit your site into the search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Dogpile, etc. Submitting your website directly will allow it to be indexed even quicker. Submitting in your pages individually is another way of getting your entire website pages indexed however it can take some time to complete if you have a lot of pages to submit to the search engine.  If you have a blog then submit your blog to free blog directories such as: Blogcatalog, Bloglines, boingboing.net, AddYourBlog,  BlogRanking, Blogarama, Bloghub, etc.
  8. Check out free services to submit your website however it’s recommended to create a new free email address so that if any spam comes your way it will go directly to your free email address.
  9. Search for secure ways to accept payment from your customers. A SSL shopping cart should allow the customers to pay with checks and credit cards.
  10. Write articles and post them on your website or best yet post them on article directories. The top article directories ranked by Alexa and Pankrank: EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleDashboard, SearchWarp, ArticleBase, iSnare, SelfGrowth, Buzzle, ArticleCity.com, and more.
