After going through all the posts I found I thought the one you’ll enjoy the most, assuming you’re into Web Design – that’s why you’re reading this email, is “Re-branding Your Logo – Why and What Works”

In today’s post I cover some cool web design concepts but I want to point out the first topic I included below called “How to Create a Knight’s Shield in Illustrator”.

Why would I point this topic out? Well, a number of my products use a shield (I like this type of shield) in the brand and they way we designed our shield is just the way it’s explained in the topic below. A few people asked me how we did it or who designed it…well, now you can see how it’s done!
Not having to load background images as structural enhancements (such as PNGs for rounded corners and gradients) can save time in production (i.e. billable hours) and loading (i.e. page speed). At our company, we’ve happily been using CSS3 on client websites for over a year now, and I find that implementing many of these properties right now is the most sensible way to build websites…

Detailed Comparison of Premium WordPress Theme Clubs

WordPress professionals are faced with many options when deciding which membership-based theme providers are worth their investment. Today’s collection includes a comic…..always good! I also included a number of free files that you can download that will improve the look and feel of your site.

A logo says a lot about your company/brand/site. The 1st item below is 50 logos based on the color Red. I think you’ll enjoy the quick glance at how these sites are using red.

Its often used express energy, love, passion and danger – think warning labels, aggression, blood, violence and traditional portrayals of ‘the devil’. There are a number of points below but I think you’ll like these. There’s even a cartoon one that’s very funny – even for us non-designers so there’s something for everyone.

Take a quick read through these and let me know what you think.

Images comprise a large proportion of our sites. They give us depth and perspective in ways that text simply cannot produce on its own. Yet as web designers, many of our portfolio sites take advantage of one common type of image above all others, the screenshot. Showcasing our work effectively and using screenshots in new and innovative ways can really boost our visitor’s experience of a portfolio, yet many of us simply stick to boring fixed dimension thumbnails that don’t do our hard work justice…

There are dozens of architectural styles out there, both formal and informal, to appeal to almost every taste…

Wireframes can be one extra step in the beginning of any web design project that can save a significant amount of time later on. Besides improving productivity, it also improves the final result of each single webpage, and the website as a whole. A wireframe is a “template” of simple lines, shapes, and labels that can be used to predefine a website’s layout before any of the design’s details are actually placed…

I teach at a middle school in the southeastern U.S. located in an area plagued with grinding poverty. The kids on the football team wear t-shirts with the slogan "From Nothing to Something," a brand that I find somewhat disturbing. Are these kids "nothing" before they join the football team, or before they come to our school?
But the slogan does apply to the idea of learning any new discipline or art: you start with "nothing" and after a time (hopefully) you achieve "something" — whether it is to become an accomplished web designer, web developer, a painter, or an auto mechanic…

I’m fairly new to the Ruby on Rails web application framework. I just started learning it about eight months ago when I started developing my web app.
I’ll share a story with you about my experience with Rails, and maybe you’ll be intrigued enough to try it out for yourself.

Most of the time texture is used as a design device to add depth, dimension, or just used to spice up a bland design.

Typography could be considered the most important part of any design. It’s definitely among the most important elements of any design project. And yet it’s often the part of a design that’s left for last, or barely considered at all. Designers are often intimidated by typography, which can result in bland typographical design or a designer always using one or two “reliable” typefaces in their designs…

Instead of restricting user interaction to text, links, images and forms, HTML5 promotes multimedia, from a generic <object> element to a highly specified <video> and <audio> element, and with a rich API to access in pure JavaScript…

One example is a grid-based framework which sets up a multi-column arrangement with predefined pixel widths so you can focus on creating content instead of lining up blocks of text…
