Content is a key factor in making a site great. If you are not offering the reader something of value they will not come back. Here are some tips for making sure your content is top notch.

  1. Keep your content fresh. Post daily to your site. People like frequency. Search engines also like content that is being updated on a regular basis. If someone comes to your site and sees you have not published anything for six months, they are not going to return.

  2. Don’t overload your content with keywords. There is a thing as too much keywords. You want your content to have a natural flow to it. If every other word is a keyword it will be hard for the reader to grasp your concept.

  3. Avoid duplicate content. You may have heard how people are using an article spinner to rewrite an article. These programs simply reword an article to avoid copyright issues. The articles are over filled with keywords and often do not make any sense. Duplicate content also hurts your ranking in search engines.

  4. Write something controversial once in awhile. Give your readers something to talk about. This will keep them coming back to your site. People like a good discussion. They like sharing their opinions. If you write something that people disagree with so what? You cannot please everyone all the time.

  5. Engage your readers. People like taking part in polls, quizzes, debates, etc. Give your visitors a place to express themselves. This can be done in the comment section for each article you write. Readers like to feel included. Sure they may disagree and tell you you don’t know what you are talking about, but that is fine they will return to see how others are commenting.

Your site has to offer something the reader feels is valuable to them. They will keep coming back if they feel you have the expertise in the subject they are looking for.
