This may seem like a simple enough question. You might think to yourself you have a space you can work from, you have a computer with internet access, what more could you need to work from home. These are just the basics you will need. If you want to be successful working at home you need to have the following.

Self Motivation- You are the boss now. There is no one to report to each day. If you don’t do the work no one is going to fire you. This can lead to procrastination. You may think I’ll just finish this work up later. The only problem is later never comes. If you do not have self motivation you are not going to be successful working from home. You have to be able to do the work without having someone standing over your shoulder directing you.
Time- If you think you can have a successful work at home business by working a few hours a day think again. It takes long hours to make a business successful. You have to have enough time to devote to only working. If your day is filled with parenting duties, volunteer work, and errands you won’t have enough time for your work at home job. You have to be able to set aside enough time each day to make your business work.
A back up plan- There needs to be a plan B. What would happen if you are not successful with your work at home business? Do you have a spouse that can foot the family’s financial responsibilities until you are able to get back on your feet? We all have heard the old saying about not putting all of your eggs in one basket. This is very true when working at home. It is a good idea to have something else lined up should your business not be successful.
