New Partnership Between Yahoo and Toshiba Announced
It has been announced that Google has acquired Invite Media, a display advertising company that works to connect those who want to buy display advertising, and those who are selling the same.
It’s a well known fact that search advertising is a big part of Google’s bottom line, but the company has been targeting display advertising for several years, as they feel that this move is a real opportunity for growth. The move started with the acquisition of DoubleClick, and has continued with the approximately $70 million acquisition of Invite Media.
Invite Media lets those who want to buy display advertising bid in real time on any available ad inventory they have. This is done through ad exchanges, similar to the way that Google has used its DoubleClick subsidiary.
Google has made sure to let the public know that the technology that makes Invite so attractive will be used to purchase ad inventory through other connections as well as the DoubleClick Ad Exchange that it started up last fall.
Those who are familiar with Google’s plans for Invite say that it will more than likely be allowed to continue as a standalone unit, which will work along with Google’s own AdX and also with the company’s competitors like Yahoo’s Right Media, Microsoft’s AdECN, and OpenX. However, in time Google does plan to integrate Invite with its own DoubleClick.
