Google Unveils Program For Prioritizing Email

Having trouble sifting through junk mail just to find the emails you really want to respond to? Google is here to help with their debut of Priority Inbox, an application built to automatically identify priority emails and place them in a separate folder.

Targeted towards business professionals, Priority Inbox promises to make emailing faster and more efficient. Users will log into Gmail after choosing the Priority Inbox application, and see three message groups; important and unread, everything else, and starred items. Gmail automatically filters incoming email into the important and unread or everything else category while the starred category is reserved for messages that have been flagged for future reference.

Gmail is using a keyword-based sorting system, relying on contacts frequently emailed and contents of emails opening immediately upon receipt.

Critics of the application worry spammers will easily work-around this system, however, until that happens this is a huge timesaver for those in the business world.
