SEO requires certain basic rules that should be followed or you will not get the results you want. Let’s discuss the wrong paths of SEO work and see how you can avoid them.

Title Tags – If you are not using this properly your title tag is not being used in the correct form and quite possibly it isn’t even being noticed at all. Remember your website hold the browser tag inside it. This tag is used by search engines to decode the importance of your website. So, if you have a small title tag and it has primary keywords it is expelling of the general terms. Your business name can be included at the end of your title tag. However, remember to use keywords. The significance of your keywords that you have placed near the beginning of a title is also calculated by search engines.

Lack of and undesirable keywords are another area SEO’s should avoid. Many websites feel that by planting the most desired keywords into their tags and content will produce more traffic. However, if the keywords are not related to your business, this would definitely be a waste of resources. You should be concentrating on the main keywords for your business topics. Also, use them in moderation.

Black Hat SEO should be avoided at all costs in trying to obtain the top most search engine ranking. There are some SEO companies out there using these tactics to get their customer rankings to the top. Avoid using any tactic that will push a customers sites ranking up. Another goo point is to avoid spamming, invisible text, cloaking and doorway pages. These are also considered Black Hat. A door way page is basically a fake page that was developed with keywords and descriptions and is not seen by anyone but the search engine spiders.

Avoid those SEO companies that promise you top ten ranking search engines. Nobody can truthfully give you that promise. These companies are advertising a fixed price to submit your site to hundreds of directories.  If they do promise this then they are more then likely using the black hat techniques. It’s also not necessary to submit your website to all search engines out there on the Web, submitting them to the top ten will be more then enough.

It will definitely take time to get your website at the top rankings, however, keep in mind that if you create a positive impression you will avoid the chances of being banned by those same top search engines for using unethical SEO techniques.

Its amazing what some Black hat guys will do. I read a blog about black hat the other day and the guy had placed links all through the text pointing to a handbag site. none of the links had anything to do with his title. Blatant!
