About 20,000 companies can’t be wrong. Salesforce has created a mobile version of its popular enterprise social networking platform. Users with a Blackberry, Android, iPod Touch, iPhone, or Ipad will be able to take advantage of Chatter Mobile.

Chatter Mobile is designed to allow you to be able to know what is going on in your enterprise no matter where you are. The company quotes a report by IDC which states that those who use Facebook through a mobile platform interact with the site twice as much as users who access it from a laptop or desktop computer. In fact, Salesforce estimates that over 50 percent of the workforce use mobile devices and many use them as their desktops. With this thought in mind, it makes sense to create an app that will allow businesses to keep track of changes.

Chatter was launched this past June and has been wildly successful. Salesforce already has thousands of downloads from the Apple App Store and the BlackBerry App World for the CRM apps that it makes. There have been 100,000 downloads from BlackBerry App World and 250,000 from  the Apple App Store.

Chatter pushes real-time information to you and Salesforce thinks that in time desktops could become obsolete. This is useful for anyone who wants to keep track of changes in their business while they are traveling or even allow them to check on things while they are on vacation.

If you have a Force.com or Salesforce CRM subscription, then Chatter Mobile is free for you. You will be able to get apps for iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone, and BlackBerry later on this year. If you have an Android, you will have to wait until early 2011 for the app.

Will this help your business? Or is it something that you will never use?
