Microsoft has recently partnered with the group known as OpenX Technologies in order to challenge the global ad leader of the world, Google Adsense. OpenX Technologies is an independent based ad server that serves more than 300 billion unique advertisements on a monthly basis. Microsoft has researched this company for quite some time and has negotiated an appropriate deal with the advertisement company in order to overtake the lead on advertisements that Google Adsense engages in. This is a direct challenge for Google and it is intended to be. OpenX Technologies will be a partner with Microsoft and will promote the content advertisements that Microsoft produces.

There are two distinct ways in which OpenX Technologies will work with Microsoft. First, the company will promote the content advertisements that Microsoft creates by integrating them into the service that they provide. This will allow their customers to sign up for the OpenX advertisement market. There will also be a plug-in component to the adserver that is owned and operated by OpenX Technologies that will allow publishers that already exist in the company’s database to have a user-friendly means of signing up for targeted ads. This is impressive due to the fact that it is the first time ever that Microsoft has allowed any type of reseller to produce a plug-in for content related advertisements.

Tim Cadogan, who is known as the CEO of the company OpenX Technologies stated: “What we are doing is pretty important; we give anyone the option to run sophisticated advertising for their website”. He continued to explain that the advertising that they will offer in conjunction with Microsoft will be open-source – which is a feature that no other Adsense program has done previous to the announcement of this particular partnership. This is sure to provide interesting advancements as far as Google’s Adsense program is concerned. In the near future, Google will likely promote open-source advertisements in order to challenge this collaboration between OpenX and Microsoft.
