Not long ago, Google rolled out a new feature – the ability to make phone calls from your gmail account. This is a great feature for many businesses who use Google apps to run their business and it also works great for freelancers who don’t want to have to switch from program to program while making a call. In just 24 hours, there were over a million calls though Google Voice. Google Voice also allows you to record your incoming calls, switch your calls from Gmail to other phones and back again, and even offers call screening. These features make it much easier to manage your phone calls.
Google has added another new feature to Google Voice: the ability to get notifications when you have a missed call. You can go to the Calls tab in the settings menu and adjust the notifications. You can be notified through your Google Voice inbox or you can choose to receive notifications by email. You can even choose to have both methods if you want. This is another way that Google is making it easier to communicate, since there already is a phone number that is given to you through Google Voice that lets you be reached through all of your phones.
This is a great way for businesses to stay right on top of things. If you work from home, it can be especially helpful. Many people work from home to care for family members such as children, and sometimes you just can’t get to the phone. These notifications will let you immediately see whether the call needs to be called back as soon as possible or if it’s something that can wait away. Email notifications give you the ability to check your email from a mobile device which will allow you to call someone back even when you’re at the coffee shop.
