If you are looking for computer protection from viruses, spy-ware, and malware look no further. Microsoft has released a program called Microsoft Security Essentials . There is no reasons not to have some form of protection on your computer when you can get one for free.

Microsoft’s new Microsoft Security Essentials is designed to use less memory and CPU usage than other security programs. They claim this will be the case with older computers as well. If this is truly the case this program could be a huge hit. There is nothing worse than a slow computer due to programs running in the background.

Microsoft Security Essentials will work on computers with a 500 MHz processor as long as it is running Windows XP and has 1 gig of memory. Vista users will require 1.0 GHz processor speed and 1 gig of ram. Windows 7 users have the same requirements as Vista users. 140 MB of hard-drive space is required. You have to have an internet connection of course to download updates. You also need Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

A great feature about Microsoft Security Essentials is the users will have real time protection. If a new virus definition is released you can get it right away without waiting until the next scheduled update. Hopefully this program will prove to be what user needs, a program that protects their computers without slowing them down.
