Today many employers are regulating the social networking sites they are allowing their employees to visit. However, employees are finding ways around those security blocks.

Social networking has become an important tool for personal and professional relationship building.  Most companies are concerned that there will be a lack of productivity if the social networking gets out of control. What all do not realize is that many of the interactive technologies will give cyber criminals even more opportunity to exploit the end users and will without thinking twice steal anything from business data, personal identities and yes even corrupt the corporate network with malware.

Companies should have the right security solutions and guidelines in place for social networking. For companies that do choose to allow their employees the option of visiting those sites so there should ne no reason to be overly exposed to those risks.

Security experts recommend blocking social networking sites outright and then create security policies to govern their use, and also monitor and enforce those policies to safeguard not only their employees but their company data as well.
