Photo-sorting app Pixable is bringing the Twitter-style hashtag to Facebook photos.
The startup’s core service sorts images from your Facebook and Twitter feeds into piles such as “Top of the Day,” “New on Twitter” and “New Profile Pics.” Now you can tag the photos in these categories with hashtags and see them in your Facebook Timeline…

I get asked A LOT about social media measurement. Generally the questions fall in to a couple of buckets – but predominantly I get the “ROI” question. There are a lot of answers that I could give. One of the “social media gurus” favorite answers (judged solely on the frequency and douche biggish tone in which it’s delivered) is: You don’t try and measure the ROI of your telephone do you?

There are Twitter users that have 25,000 followers, but they follow 24,870. Do they have true influence or does the person that has 5000 followers and follows 230 people have more influence? There are a lot of people out there are “teaching” others how to use Twitter and they brag about their Twitter followers, but [...

Facebook, which has been built on the premise of people using their birth names rather than pseudonyms, will soon allow prominent public figures and celebrities to use a nickname instead of their real name. In the past, Facebook has had a “real name policy” that has required users to only use their real birth names…

Video Interview: Social Media Marketing at GM – Charlotte Blank, Manager of Social Media - TopRankBlog.com
At the recent Online Marketing Summit in San Diego I caught up with Charlotte Blank, Manager of Social Media at General Motors to talk about digital marketing. In this short interview I asked Charlotte a few fundamental questions about digital and social media marketing related to customers:
1. How does GM segment digital marketing activities between customer acquisition and retention?
Follow up: Does GM follow a social media editorial calendar according to customer buying cycles and personas?

In the last decade social networking has not only become a buzz word but a way of life for nearly one billion users around the world. Website users use social media to engage their audience, family use it to stay connected and other users engage in their own personal ways.
While the Grovo created video might not provide eye opening facts for those of us who spend a majority of our time online it’s a great way to engage family members and friends who just don’t get this “whole social media thing…
Even as the dust is yet to settle on Facebook’s much-hyped IPO, it’s taught the world a much-needed business lesson – It doesn’t matter whether you are a small business or the world’s most popular social network, you need to make revenue out of your mobile user base.
While Facebook has nearly 425 million mobile users, it’s not making any money out of them…
I’m a student of history … probably half the books I read are biographies or something to do with a past era. So today I’d like you to oblige me while I connect the dots between the social media revolution and what appears to be increasing political paralysis in the U.S., India, Greece, and other nations…
Wondering how Facebook is doing so far this year?
We learned quite a lot about them from their IPO filing last February 1st- and, although it should come as no surprise, this infographic design by Infographic Labs shows us that everybody’s favorite social network is performing extremely well, thanks to 845 million active users…

While quality content is still the best way to build a site, blog, or brand; the best posts include photos, videos, slide shows, audio, etc. The more complete the package of information is the better the responses to it will usually be. I recently found a buyer for a piece of equipment, but this only came after the listing was updated to include a video with audio so people could really appreciate how great the item was. Given the easy access to high-speed internet access, you must take advantage of using all possible media in your posts. good luck, Max
