Ping, the social network owned by Apple for music recently revealed a cross-platform integration with Twitter. Ping users can now directly connect their Twitter accounts to Ping, find other twitter users who are also on the Ping network and share their Ping activity, song previews and purchase links.
What this means is that iTunes song previews will now be on Twitter. Also, songs can now be purchased and downloaded directly from tweets.
This new feature on Ping is set to default for all Ping users so if you are on Ping, chances are your account is already connected to Twitter.com. However, this default setting can be disabled by a user who would rather not have his/her account connected with Twitter.
This cross-platform integration is particularly significant because Apple and Facebook still have unresolved issues and Ping users cannot connect their accounts to Facebook.
Whether or not Twitter is gaining revenue from this new cross-platform integration with Ping is still uncertain.
