A user recently submitted a question to Google asking the following.

“Can moving my website to “the cloud” harm my listings? Say my server’s in Germany and I move the website to Google’s App Engine or Amazon S3. Does this harm my listings for German results – or is it enough to set the “geographic target” in GWT to Germany?”

Google’s Matt Cutts answered this question in their latest YouTube Webmaster Central video.

He also went on to explain that sometimes using “the cloud” can be easier and safer. There is nothing to store on your own system when you use “the cloud” for all of your website/server needs. What do you think about using “the cloud” for your website? Do you find it easier? Let us hear your thoughts.

For those that do not know what the term “the cloud” means it is a metaphor for the internet being used to deliver applications that you would normally store on your own computer or server. Instead the applications are used via a web browser. Everything is stored on the internet.
