It’s been rumored that Google is negotiating with several Hollywood movie studios to launch a pay-per-view streaming move site, which may be available before the end of 2010.

YouTube would somehow be connected with this project, and Google would direct new users to the site using it’s search engine and Hollywood movie studio affiliations. YouTube has already been a Google guinea pig for the movie rental business. A few months ago, independent films were made available, followed by a more mainstream selection a few weeks later. While the service wasn’t a huge financial success, it did allow Google to test the service and work out the kinks in the process.

The rollout of this new project may be Google’s answer to Apple’s new version of the Apple TV platform being released later in the week. At this time, it’s unknown what kind of competition Google can be to pay-per-view giants like Apple and Amazon, but it’ll be interesting to find out.
