YouTube has struck a major homerun with Japan, as well as 4 other countries, in a deal giving these countries access to Major League Baseball (MLB) games.
How will the access work? For users in Japan, all catch-up MLB games will be available on YouTube 36-hours after they’ve been aired live. Along with this, Japanese viewers will also have access to profiles of all Japanese baseball players, as well as to historic baseball games.
In an effort to increase its popularity abroad, MLB games will also be made available on YouTube for those living in New Zealand, Australia, Russia, and Brazil. While access in these countries isn’t nearly as generous as that in Japan, users in these countries will be able to view MLB clips and highlights, as well as archived games, on YouTube.
YouTube considers this to be its largest partnership for premium sports content it’s ever made available.
